1. Who we are

MarginMate is a food cost calculation tool for restaurant and hospitality professionals. We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with GDPR (EU) 2016/679.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: Email address and encrypted password when you sign up.
• Usage data: Recipes, ingredients, and prices you enter into the tool.
• Payment data: Handled by Stripe. We store only a Stripe customer ID. We never see your card details.
• Analytics: If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation to understand which features are used. You may decline via the cookie banner; we will then use only essential cookies.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and operate the MarginMate service.
• To process payments via Stripe.
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing).
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing.

4. Data storage

Your data is stored in Supabase on servers within the European Union. Payment data is stored by Stripe (GDPR compliant).

5. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To request data deletion, email us at privacy@getmarginmate.com.

6. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

7. Cookies

Essential cookies (always on): authentication session cookies set by Supabase. These are required for the service to function and do not require consent under GDPR.

Analytics cookies(opt-in): Google Analytics 4 cookies (`_ga`, `_ga_*`) record anonymised page views and feature usage. These are loaded only after you click "Accept all" in the cookie banner. You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's site storage and reloading the page.
